7:7. అంటే, ధర్మశాస్త్రం పాపంతో కూడూకున్నదని అర్థమా? కాదు. ధర్మశాస్త్రం లేకపోయినట్లయితే పాపమంటే నాకు తెలిసేది కాదు. "ఇతర్లకు చెందిన వాటిని ఆశించవద్దని" ధర్మశాస్త్రం చెప్పి ఉండకపోతే, ఆశించటమంటే ఏమో నాకు తెలిసేది కాదు.

7:7. కాబట్టి యేమందుము? ధర్మశాస్త్రము పాపమాయెనా? అట్లనరాదు. ధర్మశాస్త్రమువలననే గాని పాపమనగాఎట్టిదో నాకు తెలియకపోవును. ఆశింపవద్దని ధర్మ శాస్త్రము చెప్పనియెడల దురాశయన ఎట్టిదో నాకు తెలియకపోవును.

7:7. What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! Certainly, I would not have known sin except through the law. For indeed I would not have known what it means to desire something belonging to someone else if the law had not said, "Do not covet."
