18. నీవు నన్ను శిక్షించితివి, కాడికి అలవాటుకాని కోడె దెబ్బలకు లోబడునట్లుగా నేను శిక్షకు లోబడుచున్నాను, నీవు నా దేవుడవైన యెహోవావు, నీవు నా మనస్సును త్రిప్పిన యెడల నేను తిరుగుదును అని ఎఫ్రాయిము అంగలార్చు చుండగా నేను ఇప్పుడే వినుచున్నాను.

18. ఎఫ్రాయిము విలపిస్తున్నట్లు నేను విన్నాను. ఎఫ్రాయిము ఇలా అంటూవుండగా నేను విన్నాను: ‘యెహోవా, నీవు నిజంగా నన్ను శిక్షించావు! నేను మంచి గుణపాఠం నేర్చుకున్నాను. నేనిక ఎన్నడూ తర్భీతు పొందని కోడెదూడలా ఉన్నాను. దయచేసి నన్ను శిక్షించటం మానివేయుము. నేను తిరిగి నీ యొద్దకు వస్తాను. నీవే నిజమైన నా యెహోవా దేవుడవు.
